After a tied game in the first ODI at Colombo, India and Australia battled it out in the second ODI of the three-match series. Sri Lankan spinner Jeffrey Vandersay was included in the starting lineup as a replacement for the injured leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.

Vandersay dismantled the Indian batting unit as he became the first spinner to pick up each of the first six wickets of the opposition’s innings, in One Day cricket.

He finished with figures of 6/29 in his seven overs including the crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He made the first breakthrough by dismissing the Indian skipper when India were cruising through with a 97-run opening partnership in the chase of 241.

Vandersay made his first appearance for Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I of the series against Pakistan. The match was played on July 30, 2015, in Colombo. He bowled an economical spell in his first match, with figures of 0/25 in his 4 overs.
